Soundwave 2015 is to be a two day event doubly delighting the fans, spectators and die-hard addicts of this festival. Massive changes have been made to the format with four cities having a slice of the cake. The first weekend will see Adelaide and Melbourne thumping it out with the action shifting to Brisbane and Sydney over the nest weekend. Promoter AJ Maddah took to twitter to announce the details of the festival.
Since the festival will be held over two days, half the number of bands will play on Day 1 and the other half on Day 2. They will then cross over to the other venue. This, according to AJ Maddah will “help “minimize clashes, give bands longer sets, better staging, production & infrastructure”. The tentative dates that have been fixed and are likely to remain so are -
The promoter is also confident that such an arrangement will give better value for money to the fans and that they will have a less stressful day. He also remarked that bands generally like to play after dark for a greater impact and the previous years saw too many of them vying for this time slot. All this will change now as he jocularly remarked, “this new set-up also gives us twice the dark!” It will not be a form of camping festival even though there would be less number of stages at the venue.
There will also be changes in what matters most – the price of tickets. AJ Maddah explained, “The ticket price for the 2 days will be the same as last year, $185 + booking fees. These will be limited in number. There will also be a number of day tickets available at $120 + booking fees.” He hoped that this set-up would help those who find weekend tickets beyond their means.
However, the all-important list of bands likely to play has not been finalized yet. An announcement in this regard is expected shortly.
